Why Kent brushes?
A beautiful brush should be made to last.
I purposefully chose Kent Brushes as the foundation for The Nest's personalised hairbrushes because I wanted to create something that could be used and treasured well beyond the baby years.
Founded in England in 1777, Kent Brushes is the world's oldest hairbrush manufacturer and has been making brushes for almost 250 years. The company holds a Royal Warrant of Appointment to His Majesty King Charles III as Brush Makers, continuing an extraordinary history of supplying Royal Households across nine consecutive sovereign reigns.
The wooden brushes I use are made from high-quality beechwood, with an air-cushioned head designed to protect the scalp and a combination of non-scratch nylon quills and bristle. The combination helps the brush glide gently through knots while the bristle distributes the hair's natural oils and promotes shine.
Each Kent brush is then individually hand-painted by me in Nairobi and personalised to create something that is both practical and completely unique — a special childhood keepsake designed to be used every day.
